Our cover shows Nymphaea gigantea violacea taken "from a painting made by Mrs. E. Rowan, in the Cape York Peninsular, Australia". It is a copy of the plate used in Henry Conard's 1905 monograph 'The Waterlilies', originally published by The Carnegie Institution of Washington. The film separations have been kindly provided by Robert Swindells of Lark Publications, England, publishers of the facsimile reprint of the book.
