Art Competition

The IWGS Aquatic Art Competition has simple rules -- all artwork must depict water gardens or things that live in and around a water garden. We have four categories, with divisions in each for adult, teen, and youth. Our distinguished judges were James Allison (England), Olivia Chiusano (Florida), Gordon Ledbetter (Ireland), and Nancy Styler (Colorado).

The winners each received a beautiful metal plaque that features their own artwork. The Best Overall winner received "The Lily." We are delighted with the results from our second annual competition, and look forward to even more entries in 2008. (Since everything is submitted via email, we hope to get even more participation from around the globe.)

Thank you to all the entrants and congratulations to the winners!

The Lily Award

This year we had exceptional support from a school where it was integrated into their regular activities - The New Gate School in Sarasota, Florida. They selected the best of their students' artwork and submitted fifteen entries. Even the judges were impressed, commenting about the vitality of the work and wishing we could have given all an award. Click here to see them all.

If your school or group would like to participate in the 2008 Aquatic Art Competition, send a message to and check back at the end of the year for more information.
