Waterlily Preservation Committee
International Waterlily Preservation Repository

The International Waterlily Preservation Repository is comprised of rare and endangered members of the botanical genus Nymphaea and other members of the family Nymphaeaceae . Hybrid Nymphaea both old and contemporary are included with special emphasis being placed on the species as they occur throughout the world. Preservation, proliferation, and positive identification of all members of the Nymphaea complex is stressed with special emphasis being given to rare and endangered taxa and associated noteworthy hybrids. Genetic purity of species Nymphaea and their ecotypes is a paramount immediate and long term goal. Proliferation is achieved with dispersal of material to appropriate botanical educational and other enthusiasts on an availability basis.

The International Waterlily Preservation Repository is indebted to contributors in all categories and urges governments, botanical and educational institutions and individuals to assist in this worthy and noble endeavor concerning the perpetuation and proliferation of some of the most universally admired plants in the botanical world.

The seed list below represents members of the genus Nymphaea presently included in the current inventory.

This work by Kenneth Landon and sanctioned by the IWGS is a very important initiative and we are honored and fortunate to have a man of Ken's stature spearheading this work. As you view this work you may be tempted to ask for various plants in this collection and we would ask for your patience in this regard. When plants are available we will post this information so that those of you who want to work with these species can apply for plants. Aside from registration of Nymphaea this is among the most important responsibilities of IWGS and hopefully many will respond to Ken's call for help in locating and acquiring plants for this collection. This program is already off to a rapid start, as you can see by the list, and we anticipate great work by this committee.
